Another in my push for Luke to be the new (interim til Rogers comes back) Captain America. As a matter of fact, for the Dallas Con I am going to do a submission series of him taking the mantle! If I have time.

I think that he needs to take the costume from whoever Tony Stark appoints as the new Cap.

I see some guy (Hank Pymm?) taking the mantle for a few. He and S.H.I.E.L.D. got to arrest Luke and others. Luke sees the flag on this pretender and beats the hell out of Pymm who even tries to grow, only to have Luke hand him his ass. Next scene? S.H.I.E.L.D. Helecarrier and IronMan show up to find the renegade Avengers waiting with a red white and blue clad Luke Cage leading the charge!

Kind of surprised I like this, but really it's wonderful, and would speak volumes to the public. It's like the first Black President, for many. Cap should have more power than Bush anyway.... does this mean that there should be a female Cap alternative?

Well I think most of the world would agree that Ronald McDonald should have more power that Bush. A female Cap? Absolutely, I just dont see one in the Marvel Universe that could fill that role right now.

Ms Marvel has the strength, but seeing as she is number 2 to Tony Startk...

Sue Storm? Too unsure of herself even though she is potentially as powerful as anyone in the Marvel U.

Black Widow? Umm Russian...

Rogue... no mutant would be named Cap in the Marvel U as of now...

Elektra? Too many dead bodies that people know of. Too many for the government to hide.

A new girl or new person would be a cop out...

Sharon Carter? No...

Spider Woman is a known traitor to both the US and helped the Skrull elektra get away...

Black Cat? Maybe, but she is a lil shaky in the head, as well as a known criminal, although Bullseye is a Thinderbolt now so...

Aunt May? Too Old.

Gwen Stacy? Dead.

What ever happen to Battlestar? Last I seen he was working for Silver Sable. He has atleast been trained by taskmaster to fight in caps style and he still carries a shield.

You dont want to have someone try to copy the original (best Cap). That would just be cheap. Some reason it reminds me of the old "Dukes of Hazzard" episode where Bo gets brainwashed to sell the (*ahem*) General Lee to the bad guys only to turn around and buy a new car and want to "seal the doors and pait it orange." Would kind of defeat the purpose of removing the original. Gotta have someone new, with their own flava to add to the mix.
